How it works
1. Measure
We place a soil moisture sensor in the root zone of each irrigation circuit. If you also want to know what flows through the pipes, we measure flow rate and pressure as well.
2. Decide
Based on your thresholds or a crop model, the portal determines when water is needed and how much. Irrigation only happens when the soil calls for it. You can also keep track of how much water supply is left.
3. Control
A relay module opens and closes the valves automatically, or the portal connects to your existing irrigation controller via API. You follow everything on your smartphone or computer and step in where needed.

What you get
Hardware
PlantData.Live supplies the hardware according to your design, or limits itself to advice: soil moisture sensors per circuit, a relay module for the valves and optionally a flow or pressure meter on the line. Any existing drip irrigation or valves can simply stay in use.
Software and support
Live measurement data and full history in the portal, thresholds and notifications, an irrigation log next to the measurements, configuration before shipment and startup support.
Why the calendar is a poor advisor
How much water a plant uses depends on sun, wind, temperature and growth stage, and that changes from day to day. The soil keeps track of that use for you: when the moisture content in the root zone drops below a limit, it is time to irrigate. Because the history is stored, you also see how quickly your soil dries out after a watering, whether the water penetrates deep enough and where your schedule can be adjusted.
